L303 SouthCherokee r kee Lane TL A91701.01
March 10, 1995 Page 3
L
L First encountered groundwater in the site vicinity occurs under unconfined (water table)
conditions at a depth of approximately 60 feet BSG and flows to the south-southwest
(personal communication with San Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental
LHealth Division). Local groundwater flow may be influenced by pumping of water wells and
recharge from various sources. The effect of these influences on groundwater beneath the
site is beyond the scope of this investigation.
3.3 Project HisLQja
Twining understands that a 550-gallon waste oil UST was removed from the site in June
1987 and that three product tanks (2-8,500, 1-10,000) were removed in August 1988. Some
overexcavation was conducted in December 1988. According to a letter from Ms. Diane
Hinson of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD), one soil sample was collected beneath each of the USTs and the headspace
method of analysis was used instead of United States Environmental Protection Agency
L (U.S. EPA) method 8020. Consequently, the letter requires that two soil samples be
collected beneath each of the former UST locations and that proper analytical methods be
L used. According to a PHS/EHD letter, dated June 15, 1994, PHS/EHD staff witnessed the
removal of the product piping and the collection of soil samples (Drawing 2). A summary
of soil sample analytical results for the soil samples collected beneath the product piping is
Lpresented in Table 1.
L
L "
L
L
L
L
