L ✓ \..
WORK PLAN FOR SITE CHARACTERIZATION
303 SOUTH CHEROKEE LANE
LLODI, CALIFORNIA
L -
1.0 INTRODUCTION
LThis work plan is for the assessment of soils containingpetroleum product constituents
P P is
(PPCs) at 303 South Cherokee Lane, Lodi, San Joaquin County, California (site).
LPreparation of this work plan was authorized by Mr. Lloyd Gums, site owner.
This work plan was prepared by the Environmental Services Division of The Twining
LLaboratories, Inc. (Twining) in Modesto, California.
L2.0 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
L The purpose of this project is to characterize soils containing selected PPCs in the vicinity
of the northern dispenser island (along Lodi Avenue) and to collect and analyze
confirmation soil samples beneath the former locations of two gasoline underground storage
tanks (USTs) and one diesel UST. The following scope of work is proposed to meet the
objectives stated above:
L • Drill one angle soil boring and two vertical soil borings in the vicinity of the northern
dispenser island to assess the vertical and lateral extent of soils containing PPCs;
• Drill six vertical soil borings to approximately 20 feet below site grade (BSG) at the
former UST locations;
L Analyze selected soil samples for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G),
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX), and total petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-D); and
LPrepare a report documenting field activities and presenting findings, evaluations,
and conclusions. A site location map, site plan showing soil boring locations, final
Lboring logs, and stratigraphic cross-sections (if appropriate) will be included.
It is Twinings opinion that the above-referenced scope of work is the minimum required
L to meet the stated objective. This scope of work would expand in the event that PPCs are
detected through the field screening process. The approach and rationale for an expanded
scope of work are described in section 4.1.
L
L
