Earnest:
The vapor extraction system at the above site was monitored on
22 January and 7 February The results are presented in the attached
tables for your review. Also attached are copies of the influent and
effluent chromatograms and a site plan showing the layout of the vapor
extraction system.
On 22 January, a complete system monitoring, including wells, probes,
and system totals, was undertaken. Extraction points VP-1, VP-4, MW-1,
MW-4 and MW-22 were closed due to low concentrations. The two equally
drawing ambient dilution valves were closed to the point where the
vacuum pump drive motor was drawing 98% of its maximum amperage rating.
At the conclusion of this monitoring, 10 of the system's 23 extraction
points were left open and the system was extracting approximately 295
pounds of hydrocarbons per day.
Extracted water continued to be a problem during January and was
present in several extraction lines. As of 22 January, six extraction
lines remained closed due to water clogging. The accumulator barrel
was filling to capacity about once per week.
On 31 January, the system was checked and serviced. The system could
not be monitored because all the analytical instruments were stolen
from our technician's van on this date. The system was initially down
• upon arrival due to a lack of propane. The propane company was again
contacted and reminded to check the propane tank two times per week.
The propane company refilled the tank and the system was restarted.
