Remediation Feasibility Pilot Study Work Plan
CHEROKEE TRUCK STOP
3535 East Cherokee Road,Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Ellis Cecchini of Cecchini, Cecchini, and Giovannoni, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE)has prepared this Remediation Feasibility Pilot Study Work Plan
(Pilot Study) for 3535 East Cherokee Road, Stockton, California(site). The scope of work within
the Pilot Study includes the installation of three(3)soil vapor extraction(SVE)wells that will be
used to complete a high vacuum SVE Test examining possible soil remediation and to collect soil
and ground water samples to be used in an Ozone Injection Bench Scale Test (Ozone BST) for
possible ground water remediation. The site setting is illustrated on Figure 1. -Proposed work,
structures,monitoring wells and soil boring locations are illustrated on Figure 2.
AGE previously made recommendations(Quarterly Report-Third Quarter 2007,dated 03 January
2008) to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) which presented
remediation technology alternatives to mitigate the petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted ground water
plume and the shallow hydrocarbon-impacted soil. A Pilot Study was proposed to evaluate the
feasibility ofthese remediation technology alternatives.On 07 April 2008,the EHD approved AGE's
recommendations made in the Quarterly Report- Third Quarter 2007, dated 03 January 2008 by
telephone communication.This Pilot Study was prepared in accordance with the California Regional
Water Quality Control Board's Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary
Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites guidelines for investigation of UST sites.
2.0. SCOPE OF WORK
Based on the analytical results from the previous site assessments,AGE purposes to perform a high
vacuum SVE Test that will evaluate the effectiveness of the SVE technology on shallow
hydrocarbon-impacted soil and an Ozone BST that will evaluate the effectiveness of ozone injection
on the ground water. Both of these remedial efforts will occur within the area of the highest
petroleum contamination(former pump island area and tank locations)and prepare for the widescale
remediation of impacted soil and ground water at the site.
The scope of work will consist of the following tasks:
• Permitting,planning and pre-field work activities;
• Drilling and soil sampling for saturated soil;
• Collection of ground water samples from existing ground water monitoring wells;
• Performance of an in-laboratory Ozone BST; and
• Evaluation of the Ozone BST with preparation of a report of findings.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
