Mike Infurna [EH]
From: Adrienne Ellsaesser[EH]
Sent: Thursday, September 22, 2011 2:40 PM
To: 'wlittle@advgeoenv.com'
Cc: Mike Infurna [EH]; Nuel Henderson [EH]
Subject: RE: Cecchini & Giovannini Water System and Cherokee Truck Stop, 3535 Cherokee Road,
Stockton
- Bill;.
Thank you for the results. Yes a current Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)s sample would be helpful from the
small well. Please instruct the lab to report the results on the state CDPH EDT report format and label the
sample as Small Well, 3901330-002.
Nuel, Mike, and myself also have concerns that once this well is placed back into use it will adversely affect the
on-site plume from the USTs. We also, have concerns about the well at Carl's Restaurant. No one has tested
Carls's Restaurant well for VOCs or BTEX that we know of. Do you have any results for this well?
Whether the LOP UST site is closed or not closed the small well must be destroyed if left inactive. If the well is
placed back into use as a small public water system source, quarterly VOC monitoring will be required for one
year and annual VOC testing thereafter. If it is found that the well tested with detectable levels of VOC
contaminants where there was none detected before or rising concentrations of a detected contaminant, then
the well must be destroyed.
1'11 let Nuel and/or Mike respond to your comments regarding closure of the site.
Thanks,
Adrienne
From: William Little [mailto:wlittle@advgeoenv.com]
Sent: Thursday, September 22, 2011 1:29 PM
To: Adrienne Ellsaesser [EH]
Cc: Mike Infurna [EH]; Nuel Henderson [EH]
Subject: RE: Cecchini &Giovannini Water System and Cherokee Truck Stop, 3535 Cherokee Road, Stockton
Hello Adrienne,
I have not reported these results you directly, so here is the most comprehensive available
data set for the small well. The well is a four inch steel well with approximately 50 gallons of
water within the well casing. AGE purged 200 gallons and then sampled with grunfos pump. As
you can read, most results are non-detect and one older result is below the MCL for the VOCs.
Also this site has an active UST investigation and an additional sampling event for semi-annual
monitoring is forthcoming soon. An additional sampling of the well can be accommodated,
even a duplicate to ensure any data questions.
Maybe your aware, the USTCF has decided not continue funding corrective action for the site
and placed the site in the "site closeout" designation. If additional work is performed only
a
9/23/2011
I
