Mr. Marshall Cloud
March 15, 2006
Page 2
3.) Page 5-6, section 5.3.3.7, third sentence; As stated in the report, the dieldrin
plume in the northwest corner of the base surrounding long-term monitoring
wells (LM), LM140AU, LM174AU, LM141AU, and LM142AU are not being
captured because there are no extraction wells located in those areas. Although
the report suggests that natural attenuation is occurring, there is no data
supplied in the report to support this claim. DTSC recommends removing all
references from the report suggesting that dieldrin is naturally attenuating until
data is presented to confirm its occurrence.
4.) Page 5-41, Figure 5.3-1A; According to the hydraulic gradient vectors adjacent
to LM024A, the tetra chtoroethene plume is not being adequately captured.
Please discuss in the report how the ground water pump-treat system will be
modified to ensure full capture in the near future.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this letter, please feel free to contact
me at (916) 255-3713, or e-mail me at pmacnich(a)dtsc.ca.gov.
Sincerely,
Peter MacNicholl, P.E.
Remedial Project Manager
Office of Military Facilities
cc: See DDJC-Tracy Distribution List.
