Mr. Marshall Cloud
January 16, 2003
Page 3
9. Page 24, section 4.6.3: Please identify in the report the reason why Volatile
Organic Compounds (VOC) were not removed with groundwater treatment plant
(GWTP) #2's VOC stripping capabilities in March 2001, and January, February,
March, and August 2002.
10 Page 24, section 4.6.3, last sentence: VOCs in GWTP#2's effluent discharged onto
the overland flow plots were not detected in OW010AU due to the intrinsic nature
of the VOCs high-vapor pressure. Assuming the VOC effluent concentrations were
not very high, the VOCs would have simply evaporated rather than percolate down
into the water table. Please state something to this effect in section 4.6.3.
11. Page 29, section 4.8.1.1, last sentence: Please rephrase "structural failure" of the
berms to the more appropriate "erosion."
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please feel free to contact me at
(916) 255-3713.
Sincerely,
Peter MacNicholl
Remedial Project Manager
Office of Military Facilities
cc: Please see attached distribution list.
