regulatory agency comments on the Revised Draft Final RAR(including comments on the
SWMU 6 Technical Memorandum) in the Final version of the RAR.
It is not clear from the Revised Draft Final RAR if groundwater monitoring will continue
at S WNW 6, as requested by regulatory agencies in their comments on the Draft RAR and
previously stated in the Draft Final RAR("Groundwater monitoring at SWMU 6 should continue
until it can be demonstrated that the Record of Decision(ROD)requirements have been met.")
Since residual contamination remains above ROD-specified cleanup standards at SWMU 6,
groundwater monitoring should continue. Although it appears from the general sections
describing post-construction activities that monitoring will continue, the Draft Final RAR
recommendation of continued monitoring was deleted from the sections specific to SWMU 6 in
the Revised Draft Final. Please restore the text to all appropriate site-specific sections for
SWMU 6 (e.g., Executive Summary; Section 6.1)to include the recommendation for continued
groundwater monitoring for herbicides and pesticides.
Please feel free to contact me at 415-972-3024 if you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely, n
A411'c 6
Michael Work
Federal Facility and Site Cleanup Branch
Superfund Division(SFD-8-3)
cc: (See Distribution List)
2
