L TRODUCT1ON
In accordance with a request from Mr. Pushpinder Singh,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE)
has prepared this Work Plan for the installation of three soil probings at 34243 South Chrisman Road
in Tracy, California(the site). The location of the site is depicted in Figure 1. A plan of the site and
the proposed penetration locations is illustrated in Figure 2.
2.0. BACkGROUND
2.1. SITE LOCATIOPtiT
k The site is located in a flat rural./agricultural area south of f racy, California, approximately one-
quarter Ler of a mile northeast of the intersection of State Highway 132 and Interstate 580 ( Figure 1).
The California Aqueduct is located approximately one-quarter of mile north of the site. The property
is currently occupied by a single building and operates as a mini-mart/truck. stop.
i
2.2. UST REMOVAL
It is our understanding that three underground storage tanks(USTs), dispenser islands and a sociated
piping were removed from the-site in Januar; 1995. Aftei removal procedures, soil sampies were
collected from beneath each UST. Samples collected from beneath the northern-most tank indicated
that nna thorized release of petroleum hydrocarbon release had occurred.
Soil samples were also collected from beneath the dispenser island and piping. Two soil samples
indicted that hydrocarbon impacted soil is present near the northern dispenser island.
2.3. EXCAVATION OF HYDROCARBON IMPACTED SOIL
In February 1995, an additional 75 cubic yards of soil was removed from the former UST area. Soil
was excavated to a depth of 31 feet and a soil sample was collected from thi, floor of the excavation.
Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-g) and volatile aromatics(benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and
xylenes: BTE&X) were detected at concentrations up to 240 parts per million (ppm).
