15 November 1995
AGE-NC Project_No. 95-0162
2.3. GROUND WATER DEPTH AND GRADIENT
According to information obtained, ground water depth in the vicinity of the site is reported to be in
excess of 80 feet. The San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District Map Lines
of Equal Depth to Water in Wells, Fall of 1993, does not indicate a ground water depth in the area
of the site.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
Further investigation is necessary to determine the extent of the hydrocarbon impacted soil. AGE
proposes to install four probings at the site to determine the extent of the impacted soil. Three
probings will be established vertical and one will be advanced at an angle of 25° from vertical under
the building.
Probings will be advanced using, a Geoprobe, to vertical depths of approximately 40 feet. If field
observations indicate the presence of hydrocarbon impacted soil at 40 feet, the probings will be will
be advanced to greater depths.
Soil samples will be collected from each of the probings at 5400t intervals, beginning at a depth of
10 feet bsg. These samples will be field screened for organic vapors. Selected soil samples will be
analyzed by a State-certified laboratory.
4.0. PROCEDURES
4.1. COLLECTION OF SOIL SAMPLES
For the collection of soil samples, the following procedures will be performed:
1. Notify the San Joaquin County Environmental Public Health-Environmental Health Division
(PHS-EHD) 48 Hours prior to the commencement of any work.
2. Install, four probings, using a van-mounted, 1.125-inch diameter probe rods to depths of
approximately 40 feet. The borings locations are depicted of Figure 2.
3. Decontaminate sampling equipment in an alconox solution and rinse twice with water prior
to each sampling run.
4. Obtain discrete soil samples at five-foot intervals, starting at 10 feet, using a Geoprobe soil
sampler assembly loaded with pre-cleaned 1.125-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves.
5., Preserve soil samples in the lead brass sleeve by covering both ends with Teflon or aluminum
