1 The well casing and plug will be enclosed in a locking monument style hinged well cover set in the concrete surface seal. Permanent protective barriers or the ' equivalent shall be installed surrounding the monitoring well. 3.4 Below Ground Completion tMonitoring wells located in residential or park areas shall be set below grade, and the casing and plug shall be enclosed in a flush mounted traffic rated vault ' box with lid. The vault boxes shall be water tight and set so that drainage is away from the vault. ' 4.0 WELL DEVELOPMENT ' The driller shall develop the wells using surging, bailing, and pumping techniques. Well development shall be performed with care so as to prevent damage to the well and any strata surrounding the well that serve to restrict the ' movement of poor quality water. A pump will be utilized to further develop the wells no less than 12 hours after sanitary seal placement, per SJCEHD Well Standards. Well development shall continue until the flowing water is visually ' clear (1.5 hour per well minimum development time); the volume of purge water shall be recorded on a standard well development form (see Appendix C for an example well development form). ' For wells located in land application areas, the development water and rinseate can be spread adjacent to the well construction site. In developed areas, where ' surroundings are comprised of streets, sidewalks, and landscaping, it may be acceptable to discharge the development water and rinseate adjacent to the well construction site if the soil infiltration rate is sufficient to prevent ponding. ' Otherwise, well development water shall be discharged to a temporary storage tank and transported to an appropriate land application area for discharge. Discharge of well development water to stormwater drains or surface water features is not acceptable. 5.0 WELL SURVEY The measurement point at the top of each well casing will be clearly marked, and the elevation of the measurement point determined using standard surveying ' methods. The vertical survey shall be reported to the nearest 0.01 foot referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88). Horizontal coordinates for mapping well locations shall be surveyed and reported to the nearest foot. Coordinates shall be in State Plane Coordinate System Zone 3 using North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83). ' Surveying shall be conducted by qualified surveyors licensed by the State of California.
