Wells are to be securely
protected.
after/if I feel confident with the details, I will see if the County mgmt will allow a waiver.
first, please address all of my outstanding report, billing party, work plan concerns. I will evaluate your request
after I have all that is required.
mike
From:JLanzon@Geosyntec.com[mailto:JLanzon@Geosyntec.com]
Sent:Tuesday,January 25,20114:13 PM
To: Mike Infurna[EH]
Subject: RE: 800 West Church Street-boring permit
Mike,
Understood.Given that the probes will be located indoors in the basement of a guarded unoccupied building and will only be
left in place over one night, would it be acceptable to omit well vault construction?Meaning,above-ground probe construction
would consist of%"tubing grouted to surface with bentonite, completed with a closed ball valve(would serve as well head
protection)and covered with a traffic cone or other temporary barrier?if I understand correctly, the waterproof surface seal&
security surface are intended to mitigate potential runoff and potential tampering, concerns which would not apply to these
locations. Please let me know if that is acceptable,or if a vault would still be required.
Thank you for your continued assistance!
Jackie
From:Mike Infurna[EH][mailto:MInfurna@sjcehd.com]
Sent:Tuesday,January 25,2011 12:50 PM
To:Jackie Lanzon
Subject: RE: 800 West Church Street- boring permit
Jackie,
I look forward to your revision.
as for overnight, although it IS possible to do it that way, it changes the scope of work and your permit
fees. you'll need to add "well head.,protection"to your scope of work for all borings/probes left unattended
overnight. NO boring, probe, well, hole, pushpoint, etc can be left overnight without a surface seal and well
head protection (watertight casing cap, mechanical devise, tool needed).
the only way you can install day ONE and sample on day TWO or later is to provide a waterproof surface
seal, a locking well/casing cap, and a security surface mechanical devise that needs a tool to open and
resists unauthorized access. the probe is now a well.
Your current permit application is for BORINGS....install as many as the plan proposes, but ALL to be
sealed/destroyed/backfilled/grouted/abandoned/etc the SAME day. Only waiver is for continuously
maintained sampling by personnel during the night.. I've had some'probes'sampled every 3-4 hours for 24
1/31/2011
