hours...but a tech was with the probe all night and never left them alone/unattended.
as an option to maintaining the'borings'status, you may install two or three borings the first thing in the am
on day one and sample at the END of day one and then destroy all that were installed. maintains the same
day thing. you can then return and repeat this for additional probes on day TWO.
but if you choose to do multiple sampling for each probe, days apart, then you may, but you'll have to
consider them quarter inch WELLS, and install them as you would any other well. with a nonpermeable
surface seal, a locking well cap, and a mechanic devise designed to protect the well from liquid infiltration,
traffic(vehicles or pedestrian)and needs a tool to secure and open.. Think of these overnight probes as
mini vapor wells. as you would install a 2"or 4"PVC well, you need to do the same for these quarter inch
tubing probes.
And EACH well is$122. as an example, you proposed 6 probes. then your permit fees would be$366
plus 6 X$122($732),for a new total of$1098. that's for 6 soil vapor'probe-wells;'.. were you planning on
keeping the six borings open over night too? if so, plan on 12 X$122 plus the$366, totaling
$1830. you've submitted $488 for permit fees so far. any additions/changes should consider the balance
from $488 already deposited. adjust your fees to the total and submit the balance due with the revised
work plan.
whatever you decide, modify the work plan to reflect CLEARLY your intention for installing, duration of
well/boring, details on materials for any needed surface protection, and a plan/method/material for
destroying these holes. Typically all ADDED materials to a boring must be removed at destruction. even a
quarter inch tube could allow surface liquids to migrate down. I'll need to review your destruction
procedures and approve them also.
There should be no confusion to anyone reading this revised workplan later(court, RP, nonTech folks)on
what was proposed.
I can be quick as you can, but I'll need a least a two working days to process, issue, and organize and fit
'rush'jobs into my schedule. don't plan on drilling the day after you submit..No less than 2 working days
from full submittal (all complete and accurate info) to drill date is the bare bones, absolute quickest
turnaround time available...and ONLY if all is correct....
mike.
since you paid
From:JLanzon@Geosyntec.com [mailto:JLanzon@Geosyntec.com]
Sent:Tuesday,January 25,20119:35 AM
To: Mike Infurna[EH]
Subject: RE: 800 West Church Street-boring permit
Mike,
Thank you for your thorough review and helpful comments.I will be sure to address these as soon as possible and send
a revision your way.
One question—on the soil gas probes(Figure 3,to be installed to 5'bgs),we would like the option to install these one
day and sample the following day. These probes will be constructed much like a well with a filter pack and bentonite
grout. They are completed with a ball valve which would be closed upon installation and only opened when sampling
equipment has been attached. As such, there will be no open hole overnight, but I realize this may result in additional
permit fees.I will be sure to update the work plan to reflect the schedule for decommissioning of each sample type, but
please let me know if there are additional fees we should be paying upfront.
We are aware of the requirement to submit results and will certainly be prompt to follow up on that.
I hope to get the revisions back to you today or tomorrow.Given that revisions will come your way by the 26th,will the
review time be sufficient to begin work on Feb 2?Please let me know what your schedule is and we will reschedule the
1/31/2011
