Site Background Information: West Clay Properties
Page 4 of 10
the former UST No. 3 location to determine the down-gradient extent of petroleum
hydrocarbon-impacted ground water. CPT-03 was advanced to approximately 210 feet bsg
-CPT-03 was sampled between 50 and 54 feet bsg, 74 and 78 feet bsg, 133 and 137 feet bsg
and 176 and 180 feet bsg;
• CPT-04 and associated ground water sampling borings were advanced north of the former
UST cluster excavation (Figures 2 and 4) to determine the vertical extent of petroleum
hydrocarbon-impacted ground water at the former UST cluster area. CPT-0was advanced —
to approximately 175 feet bsg. [
• Ground water sampling boring CHB-01 was advanced approximately 70 feet east-northeast
of CPT-04 to determine the vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted ground water
down-gradient of the former UST cluster area-CPT-04 was sampled between 80 and 84 feet
bsg and 166 and 170 feet bsg;while - soil boring CHB-01 was sampled between 78 and 82
feet bsg.
ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Various concentrations of target analytes were detected in each grab ground water sample collected
from each sampling interval in soil borings advanced near the former UST No. 3 location(CPT-01
through CPT-03). Analytes of concern were not detected above laboratory reporting limits in grab
ground water samples collected from soil borings advanced near the former UST cluster area(CPT-
04 and CHB-01).
Former UST No. 3 Location
Analytical results of CPT ground water sampling at the former UST No. 3 area are as follows:
• HU-2: TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in the ground water sample collected from HU-2 at
a concentration of 27,000 micrograms per liter(gg/l)and 8,800µg/1,respectively,in sample
CPT03/50-54. BTEX constituents were detected in the same sample at concentrations of 21
µg/1 (benzene), 1,000 gg/l (toluene), 1,700 gg/l (ethylbenzene) and 6,200 gg/l (total
xylenes).
• HU-3: TPH-g was detected in ground water samples collected from HU-3 at concentration
ranging from 110 gg/l to 190 gg/l in samples CPT03/74-78 and CPTO1/77-81,respectively.
BTEX constituents were detected at concentrations as high as 12 gg/l benzene
(CPTO1/77-81), 27 gg/l toluene (CPTO1/77-81), 8.6 gg/l ethylbenzene (CPT03/74-78) and
38 gg/1 total xylenes (CPT03/74-78). TPH-d was not detected in the ground water samples
collected from HU-3.
• HU-4: TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in ground water samples collected from HU-4 at
concentrations as high as 30,000 gg/l and 25,000 gg/l, respectively in sample
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
