HENKLE &VA1. Consulting Geologists
Economic and Geotechnical Geology
16 Dec. , 1987
Bi 11 Fox
' Project Manager
Thortec International
" P.O. Sox 4249
Modesto, Ca. 95352
Dear bill ,
As per your request. I am writing this letter report on the
soils geology and shallow ground water regime at the Ralph Hayes
and _on. Inc. site. The site is located at 10765 W. Clover Road
in Tracy, California.
SOILS GEOLOGY
The site is underlain by recent basin deposits derived from
the San Joaqui River System. These soils were deposited during
f I -.-T d stages of mayor streams in areas between natural tresm
levees and alluvial fans.
The specific soils geology is revealed in the logs of I-ivJ 1 ,
2, and _ which were logged by our personnel . The site is
un::er-1 sin to a depth of "bout 20 -feet by a light brown clay of
,ir"1 ib :e silt content and medium plasticity ( Cl to Cl/Ml ) . The
cont_-nt of' this unit increases tow.irds the northeast. :t
is predominately C1 in MW 1 and as predoirtiinatel ) _-I- Ml
in :'!W 21 and Z. The consistency of the upper unit varies From
stiff i-o very stiff. -
?'!-:.s unit is underlain by at least -0 -feet of light brown,
micaceok.is, clayey silt ( 111/Cl ) . This unit has low plasticity
and :_ries from stiff to very stiff in consistency. It was
logged as M1 /C1 in each of the three wells drilled for this
progrin.
As can be seen from the logs, the soils underlying the site
are lithologically consistent over the area that Was
investigated. There are no major pinch outs, cut outs, or other
stritigraphic discontinuities present.
Soils samples were taken at 5 foot intervals with a Modified
California split spoon sampler. These samples were sealed with
tinfoil , capped with plastic lids, sealed with tape and
transported to California Water Labs. of Modesto. The samples
were analysed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons including BTX. No
c-3ntamirantes were detected during the lab analysis.
1
230 FlNCH WAY • CARSON CITY,W 89701 • (702)849-1683
