REVISED WORKPLAN FOR CLARKE SITE
729 South Commerce, Stockton
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site has a car towing business on the parcel. The site located
in the topographically flat, commercial/residential area of central
Stockton. The car towing establishment is on the northern side of
the building located in the southwest corner of the intersection of
South Commerce and Scotts Street. Figure 1 presents a location map
of the site.
The site is underlain by the Calaveras River Alluvium which is part
of the regional Quaternary-age Modesto Formation. Regionally, this
unit ranges from clays to gravels, however only silt and clay were
reported as being encountered during the Underground Storage Tank
(UST) removal. During normal rainfall years, depth to groundwater
is estimated to be approximately 40 feet below the ground surface.
During the present drought years the depth appears to be greater
and is reported at approximately 45 ft at a site just to the east.
PREVIOUS INVESTIGATION
Two UST were removed from this site by Oil Equipment Service on
April 13, 1992. One 3000 gallon tank contained gasoline and the
other 550 gallon tank contained diesel. UST locations are shown in
Figure 2. The UST removed were reported to be in excellent
condition.
Soil samples collected from the excavation were analyzed The
results reported from the soil samples analysis indicated low
levels of total petroleum hydrocarbon as gasoline (TPHG) ; oil and
grease (TOG) ; Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene (BTEX)
contamination. The lead concentration levels in the analyzed soil
samples appear to be background.
The over excavated soil from the UST removal was sampled and the
analysis, including a fish bio-assay test, indicated the soil to be
non-hazardous. The soil has been removed from the site. The
parcel now has space to place the Monitoring Wells on it.
