8. Containment and Diversionary Structures -
§112.7(c)
8.1 Onshore Facilities - §112.7(c)(1)
The following preventive systems are used at the Facility to prevent a discharge of oil from reaching
a navigable water course:
1,000-gallon Diesel Fuel AST
A containment berm is constructed around the base of the 1,000-gallon diesel fuel AST. The floor
and walls of the containment consist of concrete and are sufficiently impervious based upon the
construction material and the lack of any visible migration pathways. The gross containment
capacity of the berm is 2,942 gallons, which is sufficient to contain the maximum volume of the tank
and allows sufficient freeboard for precipitation of 2.28 inches for the 25-year, 24-hour worst rainfall
event.
180-gallon Diesel Fuel AST at Bldg A Fire Pump (on south property boundary)
A containment berm is constructed around the base of the 180-gallon diesel fuel AST used for the
firewater pump. The floor and walls of the containment consist of concrete and are sufficiently
impervious based upon the construction material and the lack of any visible migration pathways. The
gross containment capacity of the berm is 378 gallons, which is sufficient to contain the maximum
volume of the tank and allows sufficient freeboard for precipitation of 2.28 inches for the 25-year, 24-
hour worst rainfall event.
Diesel Fuel ASTs at Bldg D Fire Pump (on west property boundary)
A single-walled 180-gallon diesel fuel tank was taken out of service in 2010 and a double-walled
240-gallon diesel fuel tank was added. Since the single-walled diesel fuel tanks remains on-site in
the fire pump shed and is not considered "closed" by the SPCC Plan standards, the single-walled
AST remains in the SPCC Plan. A double-walled AST was installed outside the Bldg. D Fire Pump
shed. The double-walled tank was designed to contain at least 100% of the interior primary tank.
1,000-gallon Used Oil ASTs (ground level of furnace building)
The two (2) 1,000-gallon used oil ASTs are double-walled tanks and therefore satisfy the
requirements of 112.8(c)(2). The double-walled tanks were designed to contain at least 100% of the
interior primary tank.
1,550-gallon Oily Water AST(ground level, outside compressor room, near hot vat area)
The 1,550-gallon oily water AST is a double-walled tank and therefore satisfies the requirements of
112.8(c)(2). The double-walled tank is designed to contain at least 100% of the interior primary tank.
GHD I Spill Prevention,Control,and Countermeasure(SPCC)Plan 111189093(1)l Page 1
