Three(3) Emergency Generators
The diesel-powered emergency generators are located on the ground level of the furnace building.
The fuel tank of one of the generators, designated Gen-B, is on skid containment. The other two
generators have secondary containment in the form of angle irons sealed to the concrete floor.
Two Biosol Mixing Tanks
The Biosol mixing tanks are located indoors. The building provides secondary containment for each
tank. The tanks are located at a distance that a release of the entire tank's contents should not be
able to discharge offsite to a surface water body. If a release were to occur from the Biosol mixing
tanks, it would flow to the cullet sump system on the ground level of the furnace building.
Drums and Totes Containing Oil/Oily Water
Drums and totes are stored inside the Blue Barn (main accumulation building) and at various
locations indoor or outdoor, throughout the Facility for use. The Blue Barn is constructed with a
concrete berm and floor and provides secondary containment for each container. Furthermore, spill
pallets are also used for drums and totes inside the Blue Barn. Drums and totes outside of the Blue
Barn throughout the facility that contain oil or oily water will be contained by spill pallets as
secondary containment.
Transformers and Compressors
There is no dedicated secondary containment provided for transformers/compressors. Spill
prevention measures for this oil-filled operational equipment complies with the alternative
requirements per 40 CFR 112.7 (k)(2).
105 gallon Hydraulic Oil Reservoir for Cardboard Baler
There is no dedicated secondary containment provided for the hydraulic oil reservoir for the
cardboard bailer. Spill prevention measures for this oil-filled operational equipment complies with the
alternative requirements per 40 CFR 112.7 (k)(2).
Oil Reservoir for Trash Compacter
There is no dedicated secondary containment provided for the oil reservoir for the trash compacter.
Spill prevention measures for this oil-filled operational equipment complies with the alternative
requirements per 40 CFR 112.7 (k)(2).
GHD has calculated the required containment volumes based on 110% of the total volume of the
largest tank and/or the total volume of the largest tank plus a 25-year 24-hour rainfall. Containment
volume and tank capacities are found in Appendix B.
Culverts, Gutters, or Other Drainage- 112.7(c)(1)(iii)
Drainage within the ground level of the building is engineered so that the drainage flows into an
oil/water sump located in this area of the Facility. Minor spills on the upper and lower levels of the
building would be cleaned up or flow to and be contained by the oil/water sump system.
GHD I Spill Prevention,Control,and Countermeasure(SPCC)Plan 111189093(1)1 Page 2
