' KLEINFELDER <br /> 3 BACKGROUND <br /> 1 <br /> ' The following information includes background information relevant to both Phase I and Phase II <br /> environmental work conducted in 1989 and 1990 by Geologic Technics Inc. (GT) of Stockton, <br /> California. The Phase H work was conducted prior to the Phase I report and included soil and <br /> ' groundwater sampling related to former underground storage tanks located at the site. More <br /> current background information is also summarized relevant to events leading up to this current <br /> soil and groundwater assessment conducted by Kleinfelder. <br /> t3.1. GEOLOGIC TECHNICS INC. REPORT <br /> ' Geologic Technics Ines Assessment <br /> Geologic Technics Inc. (GT), conducted an environmental assessment of the site which was <br /> ' documented in a report titled "Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, Robert W. Barenchi, <br /> R&B Trucking Co., 1785 North Corral Hollow Road, Tracy CA 95376, APN: 238-030-03", <br /> dated October 14, 1999. An appendix within this report included documentation of work <br /> ' conducted in 1989 in which soil and groundwater sampling was conducted in the vicinity of <br /> former underground storage tanks (USTs) located near the southwest corner of the site. Based on <br /> conversations with Mr. Shawn Fitzpatrick and review of the Geologic Technics Inc., report it <br /> ' appears that the contaminated soil currently excavated at the site is beneath or near a former <br /> maintenance shop building of the previous owner, R&B Trucking Inc.(R&B). Other potential <br /> ' items of environmental concern from the previous R&B operations include a oil UST and waste <br /> oil AST, each formerly located in the nearby vicinity of the former maintenance building (See <br /> Plate 2 for approximate locations). <br /> ' GT drafted an addendum letter report of their Phase I report titled "Phase I — Review, <br /> Environmental Site Assessment, R&B Trucking Co., 1785 North Corral Hollow Road, Tracy, <br /> ' CA, APN: 238-030-06, Project No. 828.1r," dated May 31, 2001. This letter contained <br /> observations, conclusions and recommendations from their original Phase I report with "follow- <br /> up"comments. The"follow-up" comments reference the status of conditions and or conclusions. <br /> ' The original Phase I observations, conclusions and recommendations including italicized <br /> "follow-up"statements from GTs Phase I-Review are listed below. <br /> ' 1.2 General Observations <br /> Subject Property <br /> ' 1. General <br /> • A study of Historical Aerial Photos from 1940, 1952, 1963, 1975, and 1983 suggest that the <br /> Property has been used as farm residence and farm yard purposes until the late 1950's or early <br /> 1960's.
