PRIMEX TECHNOLOGIES • •
Corrective Measures Study Workplan, EPA ID No. CAD 000 626 762
May 2000
1. sample identification,
2. project number,
3. site name,
4. sampler name,
5. date and time of collection and
6. constituents for analysis.
Each sample container will be placed in individual re-sealable plastic bags and stored
in pre-cooled containers (ice chests) at approximately 4° Centigrade. Soil samples will
be delivered daily by CE personnel, under Chain of Custody form, to the laboratory
(McCampbell Analytical).
6.4.2 Quality Assurance/Quality Control Samples
QA/QC samples will be collected and analyzed. including duplicate samples, rinsate
blanks and temperature blanks. Duplicate samples are an additional volume of sample
that is collected for a duplicate analysis. The frequency of duplicate samples will be
10% of the total number of samples. Rinsate blanks are samples of the water used to
decontaminate sampling equipment. One rinsate blank will be analyzed for TPHd and
0&G for each day of sampling. Temperature blanks are provided by the laboratory and
will be placed in each cooler delivered to the laboratory. Trip blanks have been omitted
from this WP because there are no volatile analyses to be performed under the CMS
WP.
6.5 Equipment Decontamination
Sampling equipment that comes into contact with soil will be decontaminated prior to
each sample collection in order to minimize the potential for cross contamination. The
general decontamination procedures outlined in the RFI WP will be followed, including:
scraping off caked-on soil, brush-scrubbing the items in water and a surfactant (e.g.,
trisodium phosphate), double rinsing and air drying prior to re-introduction into the soil.
6.6 Reporting
Following the CMS WP, CE will prepare a report that documents the procedures used,
samples collected, analytical results and documentation of contaminated soil removal.
The report will include the analytical results, sample logs and documentation of soil
disposal.
7.0 HEALTH & SAFETY
CE will update the Site Specific Health & Safety Plan utilized during the RFI field work
CHOW ENGINEERING, INC. 9
