! Stockkon 99 Speedway
Quality Assurance Project Plan April 12,2007
The laboratory selected for this work is certified to perform the requested analyses. The laboratory will
i strictly adhere to state and federal requirements of the methods requested.
The analytical methodologies, required equipment, laboratory procedures shall meet the standards for .
the associated EPA' methodology. A summary of EPA methodologies and sample holding times is
provided in Table 1.
I
5.3 Quality Control
QC procedures will be carried out during field sampling and laboratory analysis activities. QC procedures
in the field will consist of strict protocols for field sampling and decontamination procedures (described in
the PEA Workplan) and the collection of field blanks and blind split samples for laboratory analysis.
Laboratory QC procedures will include the analysis of matrix spike and matrix spike duplicates. A
description of the QC procedures is presented in the following sections.
5.3.1 Field QC Samples
QC samples ensure that the sampling and field measurements activities are in control and generate
quality data. QC samples for this project will consist of trip blanks, equipment blanks and duplicates/split. '
samples.
• One trip blank will be collected per shipping container of samples during the course of the PEA. .
The trip blank will be submitted to the laboratory for VOC analysis. The trip blank will consist of a
sample vial that is filled in the laboratory with ASTM Type II reagent grade water, transported to
the site, handled like a sample and returned to the laboratory for analysis.
• Equipment blanks will be collected at a frequency of one per day per matrix, or a minimum of five
percent of the samples collected. An equipment blank will be colleted by pouring ASTM Type II
reagent grade water through or over the purging or sampling device, transferring the water to a
sample bottle, and transporting it to the laboratory for analysis.
• Field duplicates/splits will be collected for every 20 samples collected of each matrix. Field
duplicates will be collected from one sampling location during a single act of sampling. The
precision goal for field duplicate analyses will be plus or minus 35 percent difference (RPD) for
soil samples (EPA 1988).
• Field measurement (organic vapor screening, pH, conductivity, temperature) QC checks will be
collected daily. Ten percent of all field measurements will be measured in duplicate. '
Table 4 lists the frequency of QA/QC samples to be collected.
i
Quality_Assurance_Prcject_Plan,Final.doc 5-3 - a The Source Group.Inc.
r
E
