Stockton 99 Speedway Quality Assurance Project Plan April 12,2007 5.1.3 Chain of Custody Record All samples will be collected, transported and received under chain-of-custody (COC) protocols. The COC will contain the following information • Project Name; • Sample Identifications; • Date and time of sample collection; • Type of analyses to be performed; and • Signature of personnel relinquishing and receiving the samples. The COC.forms shall accompany the samples at all times. When transferring possession of the samples, the transferor shall sign the form and enter the date and time the samples were relinquished. The receiver shall also sign and date the form upon receiving the samples. 5.1.4 Hold Time Compliance For each sample collected, the time a sample is held prior to analysis will be verified with the laboratory prior to submittal. It is the responsibility of the laboratory to analyze the submitted samples within the time indicated on the chain of custody form as the hold time, or turn-around-time (TAT). Hold times for soil and analytical methodologies are included in Table 1. 5.1.5 Equipment Decontamination Equipment used in the field will be decontaminated prior to collection of each sample. The equipment will be subject to a rinse with a biodegradable cleanser a subsequent rinse with potable water, and a final rinse with de-ionized water. A more detailed description of the decontamination process is described in the PEA Workplan. 5.2 Analytical Methods EPA SW-846 testing methods will be used for laboratory analyses. For metals, EPA Method 6010B17471 will be used to quantify the concentration of CAM 17 Metals in Site soil samples. EPA Method 82608 will be used to quantify the concentration of VOCs in Site soil samples. EPA Method 8015M with silica gel cleanup will be using to quantify the concentration of TPH in Site soil samples, and EPA Method 8081A will be used to quantify the concentration of organochlorine pesticides in Site soil samples. Depending on the sample results, the decontamination rinse water will also be analyzed for TPH (EPA Method 8015M) and VOCs (EPA Method 8260B).
