r
r
M
were noted. The bottom tube was sealed & preserved in the same
' manner as the previous ones.
The well was advanced to 101 ; drill cuttings consisted of brown
clay & sandy clay - no odors noted.
' The interval 10' to 11'6" was cored using blow counts of 8-12-14;
recovery was 12" of brown sandy clay, moist, very slightly
plastic, with a mottled appearance. No odor or evidence of con-
tamination was noted. The bottom tube was sealed and preserved
as above.
' The augers were advanced to 15' ; cutting consisted primarily of
brown, slightly plastic clay, with a slight petroleum odor.
' The interval 15' to 16' 6" was cored using blow counts of 8-11-11.
When the core barrel was opened, a definite petroleum odor was
detected. Recovery was 15" of brown mottled clay grading to
r sandy clay & clayey sand. Some apparent discoloration was noted,
possibly due to contamination. The bottom tube was sealed and
preserved per standard procedures
The well was advanced to 20' ; drill cuttings consisted of brown
to gray sandy clay, with no detectable odor.
' The core barrel was driven from 20' to 21' 6" with blow counts of
5--8-13; recovery was 13" of brown to gray sandy clay, slightly
sticky, with a mottled appearance. No odors were noted, but
visual examination indicated some discoloration which may be due
' to contamination. A soil sample was sealed and preserved using
standard procedures described earlier.
' The well was advanced to 22' , when a change in drilling rate
indicated softer sediments had been penetrated. WJH decided to
take a core at this point, since the water table had most likely
been reached.
A properly prepared core barrel was inserted into the flights,
and was advanced from 22' 6" to 24' with blow counts of 22-29-38.
Recovery consisted of 12" of soft, loose, fine to coarse-grained
sand; a slight petroleum odor was detected, but no visible
evidence of free product was noted. The bottom tube was sealed
' and preserved as above.
The well was advanced to 33' ; drill cutting consisted of very
' wet, loose "water sand" ; when the auger flights were pulled, the
bottom two sections were covered with very wet, coarse sand.
8
1
