0 <br /> annular space from the top of the bentonite seal to surface A locking thermos cap will be <br /> used to seal the casing orifice A steel traffic box fitted with a well DD tag will be set in <br /> concrete to protect the exposed well casing <br /> SOIL SAMPLE PRESERVATION <br /> The soil samples collected from the boreholes near MW6, MW7 and Rl will be <br /> preserved by covering the brass sample sleeve ends with a Teflon liner and then sealing <br /> the Teflon covered ends with plastic caps Each sleeve will be labeled with the site name, <br /> date, time, sample location, and analyses to be performed Each labeled soil sample will <br /> be placed in a separate zip lock bag, deposited in an ice chest, and cooled to 4°C The <br /> samples and accompanying chain-of-custody documentation will be delivered to a <br /> California State certified analytical laboratory <br /> SELECTION AND CERTIFIED LABORATORY ANALYSES OF SOIL SAMPLES <br /> A minimum of two soil samples will be selected from each well boring for analysis by a <br /> certified analytical laboratory The soil samples will be analyzed for concentrations of <br /> TPH-G, BTEX, and MTBE using EPA method 8260B If necessary, additional soil <br /> samples from each soil boring will be analyzed to bracket the vertical extent of soil <br /> contamination in the borehole <br /> DISPOSITION OF SOIL CUTTINGS AND WASTE WATER <br /> All soil cuttings generated from the drilling of the sample borings, monitor and vapor <br /> extraction wells will be stored on and covered with 6-m1 visquine to prevent runoff or <br /> leaching to the uncontaminated soil The stockpiled soil will be stored on-site A <br /> composite soil sample will be collected from four locations within the soil pile and <br /> labeled and preserved as described for the soil boring samples The composite sample <br /> will be analyzed by a certified laboratory for concentrations of TPH-G, BTEX, and <br /> MTBE and using EPA method 8260B The final disposition of the cuttings will be <br /> determined following the receipt of certified analytical laboratory results <br /> Rinse water from the washing of the augers and sampling equipment will be temporarily <br /> stored on-site in labeled 17H 55 gallon DOT approved drums The rinse water will be <br /> sampled for appropriate disposal means ie transported to a recycling facility under a <br /> non-hazardous waste manifest or interim sewer discharge permit to the City of Stockton <br /> sewer treatment facility, along with the wastewater generated by quarterly groundwater <br /> monitoring <br /> DEVELOPMENT AND SURVEYING OF MONITOR WELL <br /> Approximately three to four days after the wells have been installed, they will be <br /> developed by swab and purge techniques to establish good hydraulic communication <br /> between the wells and the surrounding formation water For MW6 and MW7 a two-inch <br /> diameter swabbing tool will be used and for R1 a four-inch diameter swabbing tool will <br /> 7 <br />
