Upgradie6eEnvironmental 06
nsultants
August 7; 1994
Mr. Bill Peters
P. O. Box 338
RECE11; . .
French Camp, CA 95231 AUG 2 2 1904
ENVIRONMENTAL I E iLTH
Subject: Proposal for Groundwater Investigation PERMIT/SERVICES
Kwikee Foods
2081 Country Club Ave., Stockton, CA
Proposal No. 94136SJ
Dear Mr. Peters:
It is our understanding that San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division has requested
that two groundwater monitoring wells be installed on the Kwikee Foods property on Country
Club Drive.' The objective of these wells is to establish the groundwater gradient and flow
direction and determine the down gradient extent of hydrocarbon contamination resulting from a
previous leak.
Upgradient Environmental Consultants has prepared proposal No. 94136SJ to address these
issues. In the following paragraphs,we outline the tasks that should be performed and our
estimate of the costs to provide these services.
TASK 1--WORK PLAN,PERMITS,AND SAFETY PLAN
Prior to drilling, it will be necessary to submit a work plan, site health and safety plan, and
drilling permit to San Joaquin County EHD for approval. These documents will explain the
procedures to be used and safety precautions that will be observed.. Under normal.
circumstances, work plans can be approved within two weeks of submittal. Task 1 also includes
project management activities such as meetings and regulatory interface.
TASK 2—DRILLING AND SAMPLING
According'to data from the San Joaquin County Flood Control District, first groundwater
normally occurs at about 30 feet in this area. We therefore intend to drill to a depth of 40 feet.
Both borings will be sampled at 5-foot intervals,in accordance with county and state
requirements. A total of twelve(12)samples will be collected. A photo-ionization detector will
be used during drilling to,screen the samples for hydrocarbon vapors;and sample information_
will be recorded on the boring logs.
For ease of monitoring and future testing, we recommend that these borings be completed as
411182nd Street 3369 Kimberly Road
Sacramento, CA 95826 Cameron Park, CA 95682
(916)452-2891 (916) 677-3055
\ Fax:457-1817 Fax: 677-3055
