The study will
include a comparative evaluation of at least two feasible and cost effective remedial
alternatives for the site. Comparative costs, time to implement, and technical justification are
to be included that support Chevron's decision to use the remedial action .
As it stands now , the site's petroleum impacted groundwater B zone plume is undefined to the
north-northeast. Unless it can be shown that the B zone in the most down-gradient area of the
plume is stable or reducing , Chevron will be required to continue the delineation investigation .
A discussion of this possibility is to be included in the FS . Any remediation conducted at an
undefined plume site will be considered as an interim action ,
let me know if I misunderstood the conclusion/results of our talk.
i
Michael Infurna
j SJCEHD .
8/2/2011
