CPTs -14, 15,
and 16 will be multiple hole, step-down borings and are to investigate the soil
and groundwater conditions to a maximum depth of 100 feet below ground
surface (`bgs). Selected soil samples and multiple ground water grab samples
are to be collected and analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, and the fuel oxygenates and
lead scavengers.
In correspondence dated February 28, 2006, EHD also commented that
monitoring wells are needed and were to be placed during this phase of the
investigation. This requirement was not included in the Plan. In order to
emphasize the importance of gathering repeatable ground water data for this
site's down gradient investigation, EHD reiterates the requirement as follows.
You are hereby directed to install multiple monitoring wells in the down
gradient locations and depths to support conclusions of plume delineation.
The report of findings for CPT-14, 15, and 16 is to include a work plan for
the installation of these monitoring wells. The report of findings/work plan
is due at EHD within 90-days from the end of CPT-14, 15, 16 installation.
