This correspondence is to provide an update since records
indicate that you still have an operable well on your property.
The former leaking underground storage tanks were removed after some emergency remedial actions to
decrease the subsurface hazards. The investigation of the extent of the groundwater and soil
contamination plume has continued. A recently installed monitoring well evidenced higher
concentrations of gasoline and methyl tertiary butyl ether than were expected in the location of the well.
In order to verify that the nearby domestic wells have not been impacted by the gasoline pollution,
PHS/EHD has directed Shell Oil Company to sample all nearby domestic wells, if access is granted.
Please contact Mary Meays at(209)468-0337 or Joe Neeley with Enviros who is working for Shell at
(707) 935-4854 to arrange to have a sample collected and analyzed with all costs to be paid for by Shell
Oil.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Donna Heran,Director,REHS
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Margaret Lagorio,REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
cc: Elizabeth Thayer,Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
cc: Steve Gutierrez, San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors
cc: Alex Perez, Shell Oil Company
cc: Joe Neeley, Enviros
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Cam Services
