The Y " . , ✓� <br /> consumption of oxidants by these non-target compounds is defined as natural oxidant demand. <br /> The potential to mobilize metals such as arsenic, chromium, and bromide will be evaluated as <br />{ part of the bench-test. <br /> Injection Well Installations: Based on historical investigation data and experience with ISCO, <br /> twelve injections wells are proposed for the southern portion of the site to target the soil with <br /> i highest hydrocarbon levels. The twelve proposed injection wells will be installed to a depth of <br /> approximately 20 feet. Final well construction specifications will be determined in the field <br /> based on the nature of subsurface material encountered. The approximate locations of the <br /> proposed injection wells are presented on Figure 2. <br /> The twelve proposed wells will be screened from approximately 15 to 20 feet to target a sand and <br /> silty-sand layer. The injection wells will be constructed with 4-inch diameter, schedule 40, <br /> polyvinyl chloride 0.024nch Circumsloe screen and blank casing. The appropriate sand pack <br /> will be installed from approximately 2 feet above the perforated well casing interval to the total <br /> depth of the borings. Approximately 1 foot of bentonite will be placed above the sand pack, and <br /> a neat cement seal will be installed to near ground surface. A hollow stem auger will be used for <br /> drilling and construction of these injection wells. Soil samples collected during drilling will be <br /> used to describe the encountered soils and to screen in the field for hydrocarbons using a <br /> photo-ionization detector. Soil cuttings will be stored on site in 55-gallon drums. Samples of the <br /> cuttings will be submitted for laboratory analysis to profile the cuttings for disposal. This <br /> material will be properly disposed of based on the results of the laboratory analysis. As previous <br /> discussed, samples will also be collected and for conducting the bench-scale treatability study. <br /> Utility Locations: CRA will notify Underground Service Alert (USA) of the proposed drilling <br /> activities. USA will have the utilities in the vicinity identified. Additionally, a private utility <br /> locator will be used to identify subsurface utilities at the drilling locations. <br /> Permits: CRA will obtain necessary drilling permits from EHD. <br /> Site Health and Safety Plan: CRA will prepare a comprehensive site health and safety plan to <br /> protect site workers.
