(DWG) is conducting cleanup at its Stockton Plant at 1050 South
Diamond Street in San Joaquin County(site), because of hexavalent chromium discovered in soil
and groundwater beneath its cooling tower. The release polluted groundwater and impaired its
beneficial use. Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Board) staff sent
DWG and its consultant ATC Associates Inc. (ATC) a draft revised Monitoring and Reporting
Program (MRP) for the site on 12 October 2004. During a telephone conversation on 18
November 2004, Ms. Jeanne Homsey of ATC stated you had no comments on the draft. Thus,
the enclosed MRP No. R5-2004-0840 is now in effect. Regional Board staff anticipates that a
further revision to the MRP will be necessary after DWG completes its proposal for groundwater
cleanup.
Regional Board staff in the Spills, Leaks, Investigations, and Cleanup (SLIC) Program are
currently working to include and update SLIC sites in Geotracker. Geotracker is a geographic
information system that provides internet access to environmental data. Although Geotracker has
been available to the public for underground storage tank (UST) sites, it now includes SLIC sites.
As of 1 January 2005, SLIC sites will be required to submit data electronically, as is currently
required for UST sites. Therefore,DWG should review all of its SLIC sites in Geotracker and
provide corrections or updates to the information. The website address for Geotracker is
currently www.geotracker.swreb.ca.gov, but this will eventually change to
www.geotracker.waterboards.ca.gov
If you have any questions, you may contact Mary Serra at(916) 464-4682 or by email at
mserra ,waterboards.ca.gov.
WENDY .
