(GTI).
The Plan proposes: 1) Installation and operation of two ozone sparging wells and one
observation well to evaluate ozone injection for remediation of groundwater impacted by
contaminants released from an underground storage tank (UST) system formerly located
on your site; 2) conducting a 7-day ozone injection test with one month of weekly follow
up monitoring, and 3) conducting a 24- to 48-hour soil vapor extraction (SVE) test
utilizing a mobile SVE unit and vapor wells previously emplaced in the excavation
backfill
EHD approves the Plan, but recommends that one ozone sparger well be located on the
margin of the former UST excavation and the observation well be located more down-
gradient from that ozone sparging well. Also, to meet the requirements of Jim Barton's e-
mail of 24 February 2005, the analytical regimen for the ozone testing should include
analyses for general minerals and for breakdown products from oxidation of the
contaminants of concern, such as acetone. Please initiate field activities within 60 days
of the date of this letter and submit a report of findings within 60 days of completion of
fieldwork.
Questions or comments may be directed to Nuel Henderson at (209)468-3436.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental ✓Health Division
Nuel C.
