• Increase the number of wells monitored during each event to include the wells
outlined in the November 14, 2011 SJCEHD directive and wells within the
influence of the remedial systems.
• Annual groundwater monitoring will also include monitoring of two (2) domestic
wells: DW-31448 HWY 33 and DW-1697 Durham Ferry Road.
• The constituents for analysis will include TPHg, BTEX, MTBE and 1,2-DCA.
The table below indicates which wells will be sampled and which wells will have depth-
to-water measurements collected during each quarter.
Wells 1st QTR 2nd QTR 3rd QTR 4th QTR
(Annual)
MW-I x x x x
MW-2 x x x x
MW-4 x
MW-5 x
MW-7 x x
MW-8 x x
MW-102 x DTW
MW-106 x
ow-1 x x x x
DW-2 x x x x
sW-101 x
MW-2x DTW
MW-202 DTW
MW-101 DTW
MW-201 DTW
DW-31448 RWY-33 x
DW-1697 Durham x
Fe Rd.
The quarterly groundwater monitoring plan will be implemented during the 4th quarter of
2012 and will continue for one (1) year, as directed in the October 12th, 2012 SJCEHD
email. Reporting of groundwater monitoring and remedial effectiveness data will be
included in the two(2) semi-annual reports to be completed in the 2"d and 4th quarters.
Remedial System Activities
Phase II of the remedial plan was implemented during the 3rd quarter 2012 which
included the installation of a soil vapor extraction (SVE) system and the expansion of the
existing air sparging (AS) system. On June 25th, 2012, three (3) air sparging wells were
installed within the groundwater plume. Between August 20th and 22"d, 2012, GTI
installed the underground trenching to connect the new air sparge wells AS-1, AS-2 and
AS-3 and SVE well VEW-2 to the existing remediation compound.
Operational testing of the expanded remedial systems occurred between August 24d' and
27th, 2012. Following the operational testing, the AS system continued to operate while
the SVE system was shut down until the permitting process could be completed.
