February 29, 1988
I Stockton Service Station Fuge 2
Quote No. 6610G
Service Station Equipment Company for your. approval ar:d submission to the
local and state agencies. The County will not allow work to proceed until all
permits are approved. A County Release Form authorizing release of
information to the government agencies signed by the property owner must be
submitted to the SJLHD as part of the permitting process.
Task 2.2 r' I'
The subsurface investigation will consist of drilling three (3) exploratory
borings at the site (Figure 1) to determine the horizontal and vertical extent of
contamination. Soil samples will be collected and, if field observations
A indicate contamination, the contaminated samples will be transferred to a
State Certified fabora.ory for analysis. Three (3) ground-water monitoring
wells will be constructed in the exploration borings. The drilling of the
borings will be conducted using a truck mounted drill rig and hollow stem
auger. The auger and other tools user' in each bola will be steam cleaned before
µ.a
use (anti between borings) to minimise the possibility of cross-contamination.
collected at
Relatively undisturbed soil samples will be give {5) foot intervals
..,
using a modified California split tube sarrpier with internal brass liners. The
sampling depth and the modified
boring will be advanced to the desired
California sampler will be lowered to the bottom of the hale. The sampler will
be advanced ahead of the auger using a 140 Ib. hammer. The sampler will .hen
be removed from the We and broken down into its component parts. The
lowermost section of the sampler will be capped, labeled, logged on a chain of
custody form and placed in an ice chest for transport to the State Certified
- laboratory. A log of the subsurface conditions encountered during the drilling
process will be prepared by an Exceltech geologist in the. field using the Unified
Soil Classification System. The drill cuttings will be placed in 55 gallon drums.
The property owner is legally responsible for disposal
and disposal aced
cuttings. Exceltech can assist in arranging fortransportation
on a
time and material cost basis.
Task 2.3 Il
Three (3) ground-water monitoring wells will be constructed in the exploration
- -=-
borings. The monitoring wells will be built under permit requirements of the
SJLHD ---The--wells-will-be-constructed-of_2-inch_flesh threaded IVC pipe. No _ _- --_--
glues. or solvents will be used. After drilling the borings to their desired depth,
asing will be installed through the hollow s
PVC ctem auger.
