1 MIA <br /> ^'1 <br /> Grantline and East Roads Page 3 of 8 <br /> water surface. The sample interval was 8.2 feet to 8.5 feet. <br /> Boring # 3 was located 6 feet south of Boring # 2 on the east side <br /> of the tank field. The soils encountered wc,:e the same type, and <br /> at the same depth as the first two borings. A fairly strong <br /> product odor and medium-gray staining was observed in the soil <br /> cuttings from a depth of 6 feet to 8 feet. Groundwater was <br /> encountered in a saturated, sandier, gray, silty clay at a depth of <br /> 8.3 feet below grade. `A sheen was observed in wet cuttings at a <br /> depth of .8 feet. The sample interval was 7.8 feet to 8.1 feet. <br /> Boring f 4 was located Gr, the west side of the tank field and <br /> encountered the same soils at the same depths as the other three <br /> borings, except the clays in the 2 to 4 feet interval were slightly <br /> more olive-brown in colo,:. A very strong gasoline odor was <br /> observed from a depth of 4 feet to T.D. (7.75 feet) . Groundwater <br /> was encountered, 1 hour after drilling, at a depth of 7.7 feet <br /> '-nelow grade. A purple-blue sheen and dark gray staining was <br /> observed in the cuttings from 4 meet to T.D. Free product was <br /> observed on the surface of the water. The sample interval was 7.25 <br /> feet to 7.55 feet below grade. <br /> Boring # 5 was located 7 feet north of Boring # 4 and on the west <br /> side of the tank field. The soils encountered were the same type, .. .. <br /> €.yam and at the same depths as borings # 1, # and # 3. Again, P <br /> strong gasoline/diesel odor and staining was o?.:served from a depth <br /> of 4 feet to T.G. (8.2 feet) . A sheen was observed on the surface <br /> of the water. The sample interval was 7.7 feet to 8.0 feet below <br /> grade. <br /> Boring # 6 was located 3 feet from thr, eastern side of the 550- <br /> gallon waste oil tank. A stiff, medium hrown clay was encountered <br /> from a depth of 0 to 2 feet below grad-",•; a damp, olive-brown clay <br /> was observed from a depth of 2 feet to 6 feet; a moist, gray, <br /> sandier silt was encountered .from a depth of 6 feet to T.D. (8.3 <br /> feet) . Groundwater was encountered at a depth of 8.2 feet below <br /> gradein the sandier silt layer. A very strong odor was observed <br /> from soil cuttings at a depth of 6 feet to T.D. Dark gray staining <br /> was also noticed in this interval. The sample interval was 7.8 <br /> feet to 8.1 feet below grade. <br /> LABORATORY ANALYTICAL RESULTS <br /> Soil samples (one per boring) were inserted in 6-inch long, 2•-inch <br /> diameter brass tubes; the ends were sealed with aluminum foil and <br /> plastic caps, the ends were sealed with aluminized tape, labeled, <br /> and put on ice in thermally insulated-_cooler__for__transport-to--a-- -- — -- -- <br /> tate <br />
