Samples were collected in a brass sleeve, sealed with foil
and a plastic cap, transported on ice under strict ch4in-of-custody to the laboratory. Sample
locations are shown on Figure 2.
Selected soil samples collected from the sidewalls of TPI, the bottom of TP2, and the product
r line trench were analyzed for some or all of the following petroleum hydrocarbon constituents.
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), using EPA method 8020; total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG), using modified EPA method 8015; total petroleum
y hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHD), using modified EPA method 8015; ethylene dibromide(EDB)
using EPA method 8010; metals using EPA methods 7421 and 7196; halogenated volatile
organics (HVO) using EPA method 8010; polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) using EPA method
8080; and total lead (TL) using EPA method 7421. Analysis was performed by Applied
Analytical Laboratories (DHS cert. #1211).
A groundwater sample was collected from the bottom of TPI. The water sample was analyzed
for BTEX using EPA method 602, TPHG using modified EPA method 8015, TPHD using
modified EPA method 8015, and T'1., using EPA method 6010. Samples were collected in a
glass containers and uwsPorted on blue ice in an airtight cooler to the laboratory. Analysis was
performed by Applied Analytical Laboratories. Metals, BTEX and TPHD
constituents were detected above method reporting limits ir.Wk pit 2 CM). Lead was detected
in selected samples in tank pit 1 (TPI) and product line samples but was not detected in the "
groundwater in concentrations above State Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLS) for drinking
water.
