R*
i
-. IN-
product lines will be analyzed for BTEX, and TPI4G by EPA methods 8020/8015 respectively.
The sample collected near tank pit 2 (the waste oil tank) will be analyzed for lead, cadmium,
zinc, and chromium by EPA methods 7420 and 6010 respectively.
GROUNDWATER
i.,
To define the Iateral extent of groundwater impact WaterWork proposes to install three soil
r borings, completing them as monitoring wells. One well will be installed downgradient of the
tank pit and line areas, one will be installed near the product lines, and one well will be installed
r up-gradient of the tank pit and product lines. The monitoring wells will be completed a
. maximum of.fifteen feet below first water, approximately 25 feet below grade. Drilling will be
conducted under the direct supervision of WaterWork, by a licensed C57 drilling contractor
using a hollow-stem auger rig. The wells will be constructed of 4 inch F430 PVC casing and
screen and completed as shown on Figure 4.
Drill cuttings will be logged continuously for characterization of soil type using the Unified Soil
Classification System. Descriptions of soils encountered and monitoring well construction detail
will be recorded on boring/well logs and included in the Problem Assessment Report. Soil
samples will be collected from each boring at five foot depth intervals. The samples will be
collected in brass sleeves using a modified California split spoon sampler. The samples will be
`" sealed with teflon tape, a plastic cap, tape and put into a plastic bag. The samples will then be
placed or, ice in an air tight Gooier and transportation to a State certified laboratory under strict
chain-of-custody, Soils encountered will be monitored by placing a small amount of
representative soil in a sealed container, then measuring the concentration of volatiles collected
in the head space of the container with a photoionization detector(PID)calibrated to the benzene
molecule. The values obtained at each measurement point will be recorded on th-_boring/well
logs.
fr--- --- — - ---One-soil-sample-.will-be selected for analysis during tfie drilling of-each monitoring well at the------- — -----
%` soil/groundwater interface. The samples will be collected in the manner mentioned above.
. MM,wP S
