Mike Infurna [EH]
From : Mike Infurna [EH]
Sent: Friday, September 30, 2011 3:05 PM
To : 'Todd Hafner'
Subject: RE: King Island Resort Sampling
Todd ,
I understand the monetary restraints on sites now with the CUF budget cutting many sites
below financial needs . I 'm ok with the reductions as long as you do not violate any
requirements/understandings already established with the CVRWQCB's WDR policy . If Mr.
Barton has no objections , go ahead and submit a formal request to me/the EHD and include
details/dates of the changes and when the schedule will resume as originally approved . Let
me know when it's on Geotracker.
I'll run it by Nuel and check with Jim , if ok, I 'll generate an approval letter.
mike.
From : Todd Hafner [mailto :todd . hafner@atcassociates.com]
Sent: Friday, September 30, 20112 :47 PM
To: Mike Infurna [EH]
Subject: King Island Resort Sampling
Mike,
Last month we completed ozone pilot testing at King Island . As part of the pilot testing activities,
groundwater samples were collected on a monthly basis from February through August from MW1,
MW4R, and MWS through MW7 and analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons. Consequently, we have
recent data for these wells. ATC is planning to conduct the next semi-annual sampling event in the next
two weeks . In light of the recent lab data associated with MW1, MW4R, and MW5 through MW7 and the
new FUND budget requirements, I would like to modify the sampling schedule for the pending semi-
annual event such that only MW8, MW11, MW14, and the domestic wells will be sampled . This change in
the number of wells for the upcoming semi-annual event will help preserve the assigned FUND budget for
fiscal year 2011-2012. 1 anticipate the sampling schedule will revert back to the established schedule for
the semi-annual sampling events that will be conducted next year. Please let me know what your
thoughts are.
Todd Hafner, P.G. I Senior Geologist I ATC Associates Inc.
