(AGE) on behalf of Herman &Helen's Marina (H&H Manna) at the Venice Island Ferry in
Stockton. The QMR discusses the groundwater monitoring activities performed in June. We have
no comments on the QMR. The Addendum proposes to drill three borings in the area of the former
underground storage tanks to collect soil and grab groundwater samples and to conduct a pump test
at proposed extraction well EW-1. H&H Marina will advance one of the three borings at a 25-
degree angle to assess the distribution of polluted soil. The work proposed in the Addendum is in
addition to the work proposed in the 14 May 2002 Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan.
We have the following comments on the Addendum:
1. The collection of grab groundwater samples in the Addendum is not clear. Section 3.3 states
H&H Marina will collect grab groundwater samples from each boring during the boring
process. Section 4.3 states H&H Marina will collect grab groundwater samples from
selected borings from a depth of four feet below the groundwater surface. H&H Manna
needs to specify which borings and clarify how it will collect the grab groundwater samples.
2. The Addendum proposes analyzing selected soil samples for various geochemical analyses,
but does not specify which borings. H&H Manna needs to submit samples collected at
extraction well EW-1 for the geochemical analyses.
3. The Addendum proposes to collect a groundwater sample six hours into and at the
conclusion of the pump test. H&H Marina should also collect a sample during the first hour
of the extraction test because this is typically when the highest concentrations are observed
and will provide data to determine concentration trends during the pump test.
California Environmental Protection Agency
CO Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing Califomia is real. Every Californian needs to take immediate action to reduce energy consumption.
For a list of simple ways you can reduce demand and cut your energy costs, see our Web-site at httpJ/www.swrcb.ca.gov/rwgcb5
