Herman&Helen's Marina
Comments on Drab MRP
May 7,2001
Page-2-
Historical MTBE results of all but two groundwater samples from MW-1 indicate no detection at or above
the laboratory reported detection limits. MTBE was detected at only trace concentrations in the other two
samples (1.0 and 1.3 gg/L). Based on the hydrogeologic setting, Condor believes that the MTBE
concentrations in MW-1, when present, are likely to have been indicative of MTBE background
concentrations in the nearby and up-gradient Little Connection Slough and not from the down-gradient
ASTs.
Based on the additional information provided herein and the historical data previously provided, Condor, on
behalf of Herman & Helen's Marina, respectfully requests that the CRWQCB reconsider the request to
abandon MW-1. Although the cost savings represented by the abandonment of MW-1 is not very large
relative to the potential cost of the project, it is not unsubstantial when considering that the project costs may
have to be incurred by Herman&Helen's Marina without assistance from the UST Fund.
Regarding the draft MRP:
After reviewing the draft MRP, we called you on May 8 and again on May 9, 2001 regarding two minor
changes to the MRP which you verbally agreed to. The changes, both in Table 2 of the draft MRP, include
specifying that the groundwater samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as
gasoline (the draft MRP specified analysis by Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) and that the maximum
detection limit for ethanol and tertiary-butanol will be 5 µg/L (instead of 0.5 µg/L as specified in the draft
MRP). On behalf of Herman& Helen's Marina, Condor requests that these changes be included in the frial
MRP for the site.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact me at(209)234-0518.
Respectfully submitted,
CONDOR EARTH TECHNOLOGIES,INC.
 t L
Donald F.
