MTBE is not being detected in the
groundwater samples from monitoring well 4 which is within a few feet and downgradient of the
former location of the underground storage tanks that were removed in October 1991. Low levels
of BTEX have been evidenced in groundwater samples from monitoring well 4. However, the
contamination of greatest concern at the site is the MTBE contamination seen in monitoring wells
2 and 3.
PHS/EHD is removing this site from the Local Oversight Program and referring it to your agency
for oversight because the site information indicates that the source of the contamination of
greatest concern, MTBE, is the above ground tank system for which the Regional Water Quality
Control Board has regulatory authority.
If you have any questions contact me at(209)468-3449.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Margaret Lagorio, Supervising REHS
Unit IV/LOP
Enc.
C: CVRWQCB-Wendy Cohen
Herman & Helen's Marina-Dave Smith w/o Enc.
Delta Farms Reclamation District-Alan Richard Coon w/o Enc.
Condor Earth Technologies-Don Kresse w/o Enc.
SW RCB(LOP)-Lori Casias w/o Enc.
SWRCB (Cleanup Fund)-Alan Patton
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
