Water would
I
be pumped from the Stockton Channel to the fountain and would fall and flow through Weber
i
Block and over the sheet pile wall back into the Stockton Channel. This would create two
waterfalls that would"flush"Weber Block of any algae or debris that might enter the Block.
The sheet pile wall downstream of the Center Street Bridge would remain in place w long as
water quality in the Stockton Channel remained a concern. A pump station installed below
grade along Channel Strcct may be required to move the water from the channel into Weber
Bloch.
• A fish screen or similar device would be installed to prevent potential loss of fish due to water
diversion into the water square(Jones & Stokes,.1999).
• Provisions would be made to facilitate installation and operation of temporary ice rink at
Weber Block during the winter months.
F
• Provisions would be made to facilitate possible construction ofa restaurant on the northeastern
corner of Weber Block (constructed at street level). However, construction of the restaurant
would not be a part of the proposed redevelopment project.
• A shade structure would be constructed for use by visitors and also for use by retailers during
farmer's inarkets, an exhibits, crafts shows, and other events.
• Provisions would be made for signalized pedestrian street crossing from Weber Block to the
Weber Point Events Center and other off-site land uses.
• Channel Street would be converted to a one-way street from Center to El Dorado streets and
angled parking on the north side of Channel Street would be installed.
• Parking on the west side of El Dorado Street adjacent to Weber Block would be removed and
the sidewalk extended to match the street alignment north and south of Weber Block.
I
• The redeveloped area would be finished in concrete and brick paving, with planter boxes, and
grass and trees planted on the sloped areas. Imported soil would be brought in to facilitate
landscape growth. It is assumed that this soil would be imported from an off-site source free l
of any contamination. r
• Drinking and irrigation water would be obtained from the City of Stockton's potahle water
supply system and the Block's surface drainage would be connected to the existing City of
Stockton storm water collection system.
. i.
r
97369xck.prl.wVd-1119;99 7
