Advertisements of these public meetings were made in The Record newspaper, <br /> notifications were mailed to the stakeholders list (see discussion below), and fliers were prepared <br /> for distribution by the Downtown Alliance guides. Four presentations were also made to the <br /> Waterfront Committee to receive design input and guidance. Generally,public comments received <br /> on redevelopment of Weber Block included: 1) creating more public space in the plaza area, 2) <br /> incorporating public art into the design, 3) using portable benches and umbrellas to increase <br /> flexibility of the space, 4) providing space for a wintertime ice rink, S) providing pedestrian <br /> connections with immediate off-site land uses,6).providing far public transportation,and 7)ensuring <br /> water quality of the Stockton Channel within the Weber Block area. All public input together with <br /> the direction and guidance of City staff'and the Committee resulted in the final design concept <br /> described under the Proposed Site Redevelopment Plans and Land Uses section above (HDR , <br /> Engineering, 1999). <br /> Once the PEA is finalized,the second phase of the design will be completed with preparation of the <br /> final design and construction documents for the.redevelopment of Weber Block. <br /> COMMUNITY PROFILE <br /> The community has expressed interest in redevelopment of the Weber Block property and other sites <br /> in the Master Plan Area,.through the deliberations of the Waterfront Committee and public input <br /> received on the conceptual design for Weber Block. Proposed redevelopment of the Weber Block <br /> property as a water square/publie'meeting area were well.reccived by the public. <br /> A list of key stakeholders, as identified in the Flan for Stakeholder Involvement, is included in <br /> Appendix E. Entries on the stakeholders listed include members of the Stockton Waterfront <br /> Committee, the Stockton Redevelopment Commission, the Stockton Planning Cornmiskon, the <br /> Stockton City Council, other governmental agencies, and other elected representatives of the <br /> waterfront area. The list also includes known property owner's in the area, civic and community <br /> groups, nonprofit organizations that serve people who frequent the waterfront area,business and <br /> environmental organizations, and other groups presumed to have an interest in the waterfront area. j <br /> The location for the established information repository is located at the Stockton Redevelopment. 4 <br /> Agency. <br /> i <br /> RECOtTNINLENDATIONS FOR FUTURE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION ACTIVITIES <br /> Significant public outreach regarding proposed redevelopment of the Stockton Environmental <br /> Master Plan Area, including the Weber Bloch Property, have been conducted to date.
