Site Background Information: Den's Auto Repair
Page 3 of 8
• The impacted soil encountered between 43 feet and 70 feet bsg in MW-1 appears to be part
of a significant,undefined plume,possibly associated with another source southeast of well
MW_1.
• Impacted soil encountered in the former UST cluster may extend,at depth,to the MW-1 area,
but the lower hydrocarbon concentrations in the former UST cluster suggest otherwise.No
soil contamination was encountered in boring B-2 which extended only to 35 feet bsg.
CPT LITHOLOGIC INVESTIGATION CJ
On 12 and 13 November 2002,three soil borings(CPT-1,CPT-3,and CPT-4)were advanced on-site
and off-site utilizing cone penetrometer testing(CPT)technology.Lithologic data was collected from
these three borings. Soil borings were advanced to collect grab ground water and soil samples from
selected depths(Figure Al). Soil boring CPT-2 was advanced without a CPT sounding.Analytical
results of soil samples collected from the soil borings are summarized on Tables Al and A2;
analytical results of grab ground samples collected from the soil borings are summarized on
Table A3.
Ground water samples were collected from the CPT borings at the following intervals:
• CPT-1 was sampled between 84 feet and 88 feet bsg and between 111 feet and 115 feet bsg;
• CPT-2 was sampled between 76 feet and 80 feet bsg and between 111 feet and 115 feet bsg;
• CPT-3 was sampled between 51 feet and 55 feet bsg, between 71 feet and 75 feet bsg,
between 96 feet and 100 feet bsg, and between 118 feet and 122 feet bsg; and
Y
• CPT-4 was sampled between28 feet and 82 feet bsg and between 121 feet and 125 feet bsg;
• Soil samples were collected at 60 feet and 75 feet bsg in CPT-4.
Ground water samples collected and analyzed from the Hydrologic Units are reported as follows:
• TPH-g was reported in a sample collected from the uppermost water table(HU 1).TPH-g was
detected in sample CPT3-55 at a concentration of 100 micrograms per liter(µg/1). Volatile
aromatic compounds benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene,and xylenes(BTEX)and fuel additives
were not detected in the shallow grab ground water samples.Monitoring well data indicates
significant concentrations of TPH-g and BTEX near the upper 60 feet of the section at
CPT-1, and to a lesser degree in the upper 60 feet of the section at CPT-2.
-- - TPH-g was reported--in samplesatdepths-between 7-5 feet-and 90--feet-bsg.-T-P-H-g:was- -- ----
- I
i
Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc.
