Site Background Information: Dens Auto Repair
Page 4 of 8
detected in sample CPT1-88, CPT2-80, CPT3-75, and CPT4-82 at concentrations of
1,800 gg/l,250 gg/l, 170 gg/l,and 470 gg/1,respectively.BTEX compounds were detected
at a maximum concentration of 34 gg/l benzene in sample CPT 1-88.Xylenes were detected
in a sample from HU2 at a maximum concentration of 6.6 gg/1 in sample CPT 1-88. DIPE
was detected in the same sample at 11 gg/l.
•. TPH-g was also reported in samples at depths between 100 feet and 125 feet bsg.TPH-g was
detected in samples CPT1-115, CPT2-115, CPT3-100, CPT3-122, and CPT4-125 at
concentrations of 290 gg/l,230 gg/l,310 gg/l, 1,400 gg/l,and 140 gg/l,respectively.BTEX
compounds were detected at a maximum concentration of 370 µg/1 benzene in sample
CPT 1-122. Xylenes were detected in a sample from HU3 at-a maximum concentration of
13.6 µg/1 in sample CPT3-122. DIPE was detected in sample CPT 1-115 at 6.2 gg/l. -
• The only hydrocarbon detected in the soil samples was benzene, at a concentration of
0.034 mg/kg, in sample CPT4-60.
• Overall, TPH-g and BTEX compounds were detected in.the water samples collected from
the lower two hydrologic units(HU2 and HU3).Xylenes were also detected in the lower two
HUs.The concentrations of benzene appear to increase with depth both on-site at CPT-1 and
j north of the site at CPT-3. No benzene was detected in the CPT-2 samples, collected from
beneath the former UST area at deep intervals between 80 feet and 125 feet bsg.
• The vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted ground water had not been defined
by the CPT investigation(Figures A1,A2 and A3).
ADDITIONAL VERTICAL AND LATERAL ASSESSMENT
Four ground water monitoring wells (MW-4 through MW-7) were installed on 13, 14 and 15
September 2005. Pilot borings MW-4 through MW-7 were completed as ground water monitoring
wells using two-inch diameter PVC casing with. 0.020-inch slotted screen installed from
approximately 110 feet to 120 feet bsg in boring MW-4,from 60 feet to 65 feet bsg in borings MW-5
and MW-6 and from approximately 109 feet 119 feet bsg in boring MW-7.
i
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
I
