10 INTRODUCTION
The Site Assessment Workplan presented herein describes methods and procedures to be
1 utilized for drilling, installing and sampling up to four groundwater monitoring wells at the
Stockton Plating Incorporated (SPI) site located at 632 South El Dorado Street in Stockton,
San Joaquin County, California (the Site) The location of the Site is illustrated on Figure I
The methods and procedures to be utilized include
• Installation of one initial groundwater monitoring well on the Site, with the
option to install an additional three (3) groundwater monitoring wells along the
southern boundary road of the Mormon Slough at a later time,
• collection of soil samples for laboratory analyses from each soil boring as it
advanced to the groundwater surface,
• analysis of the collected soil samples for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as
' both gasoline (TPHg) and diesel (TPHd) and organic lead by California LUFT
methods,
• completion of the soil boring to a target depth of 60 feet Below Ground Surface
' (BGS), approximately 15 to 20 feet below the water table surface, as a
groundwater monitoring well,
• development, and subsequent purging and sampling of groundwater from the
initial well,
• analysis of the collected groundwater sample for TPHg, TPHd, and organic
lead,
• preparation of a supplementary Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation
Report (PIER) reporting the findings of the investigation
Installation of the initial monitoring well, MW-4 (Figure 2), is anticipated on the Site
property It is anticipated that additional downgradient wells may be necessary to continue
delineation of the extent of groundwater impact, however, due to the limited nature of
available downgradient assessment locations, we are currently pursuing the possibility of
locating at least three additional locations offsite along the southern boundary of the Mormon
' Slough Obtaining access to these proposed assessment locations (MW-5, 6 and 7 on Figure
1) is being pursued at this time Permission to drill these sites is expected to be delayed due
to complications regarding ownership and management of the Mormon Slough If and when
permission to install assessment locations along the Mormon Slough embankment is
obtained, RFA will notify San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (SJEHD) and obtain well permits for these wells
A Site Safety Plan is presented in Appendix A as a separate document, and establishes the
requirements to adequately protect workers during the conduct of the field activities
Specific site safety procedures to be utilized for all personnel involved to the project are
explained therein
A supplementary PIER will be prepared which will summarize the field and laboratory
' operations conducted, methods and procedures used, data obtained, and conclusions and
1 366-002 - 1 -
