. 23 April 2002 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0142 <br /> Page 9of16 <br /> Subsurface piping consisting oftwo-inch diameter,schedule 40polyvinylchlonde(PVC)plpingwill <br /> be installed In trenches approximately one foot bsg and routed from the SVE well heads to the vapor <br /> extraction unit The proposed SVE piping system is illustrated in Figure 4a <br /> 39 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION SYSTEM START-UP PERIOD <br /> During the SVE start-up period(first week of operation),influent and effluent vapor concentrations <br /> will be collected on a daily basis to ensure optimal destruction of recovered hydrocarbon vapors <br /> Operational parameters(air flow,combustion temperature,volume ofprocessed vapor,oxygen level <br /> and the lower explosive limits (%LEL) will be monitored daily during the start-up period <br /> 3 10 MONITORING AND MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES <br /> Vapor samples from the SVE influent and the effluent sample ports(Figure 4b)will be collected on <br /> a monthly basis and submitted to a DHS-certified laboratory for analysis of the following <br /> constituents <br /> • TPH-g in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified and <br /> • BTEX and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method 8020 <br /> Laboratory reports for vapor analysis,testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control <br /> (QA/QC)reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in monthly reports <br /> Influent and effluent vapor concentrations and operational parameters (combustion temperature, <br /> volume of processed vapor,oxygen level and%LEL)will be monitored on a weekly basis to ensure <br /> optimal destruction of recovered hydrocarbon vapor and to monitor cleanup progress <br /> The SVE system will be maintained on a monthly basis according to the manufacturer's <br /> recommendations (i a lubrication, oil changing, system adjustments, etc ) <br /> Quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling will be performed at the site throughout the <br /> remediation period to monitor remedial progress Depth to ground water measurements will be <br /> collected on a monthly basis to determine if ground water level changes are occurring, as a result of <br /> the SVE system operation <br /> • Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
