ANNUAL HAZARDOUS MATERIAL <br /> COMMUNICATION AND HANDLING TRAINING <br /> OUTLINE - California PCs (continued) <br /> Emergency Procedures: In the event of(or threat of) an emergency, procedures have been developed. In summary, <br /> remember SWIMS!Stop the leak,Warn others,Isolate the area,Minimize exposure,Stand byto assist. Review the October <br /> 2010 Monthly Safety Meeting topic (attached) for more details. Also, review the location of appropriate spill response <br /> materials and supplies at the PC, along with their proper use. Make sure response supplies are replenished after use. <br /> Emergency Contacts: A list of emergency contacts is posted at the PC in an accessible location. Review the location and <br /> information on the posting with employees and ensure that the contact information is up to date. <br /> Spill Prevention: A Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan describes safe handling of our bulk oil and an <br /> SPCC plan has been prepared for each PC staring more than 1,320-gallons of petroleum. This Plan is available at the PC <br /> and is also posted on the Environmental intranet site. Each oil-handling employee is required to complete the online <br /> Luminex SPCC course. This course is designed for petroleum but many of the principles are applicable to other hazardous <br /> chemicals as well. Ensure that each applicable employee has taken the intranet-based course. Review the attached memos <br /> on SPCC and Bulk Oil storage. Remember that monthly written tank inspections are required. <br /> Communication and Alarms: Communication and alarms related to hazardous materials and emergencies include fire <br /> alarms, intercoms, radios, walkie talkies, cell phones and verbal communication. Review the applicable alarms and <br /> communication devices at the PC and review the use of these devices during emergency situations. <br /> Evacuation Procedures: An evacuation map is posted at the PC. Additionally, periodic evacuation drills are conducted. <br /> Make sure each employee is aware of the evacuation route and procedure. <br /> Environmental Files: Keep all environmental documents in a central fle readily accessible to inspectors.
