Thero osed locations of
P p the soil borings are shaven
in Figure 3. All permits required for the drilling of the soil
borings will be obtained from San Joaquin County. The soil
borings will be drilled by a California licensed driller, under
the direct supervision of a Condor geologist. Soil samples will
be collected at 5-foot intervals for geologic logging and possible
g g
laboratory analysis. An organic vapor analyzer (DVA - Flame
Ionization Detector) will be used to screen the soil samples
during the drilling process. In the event that hydrocarbons are
detected, the samples will be sealed and placed in a cooler
!ate chilled with blue ice for chemical analysis. Descriptions of
i .
drilling, logging, and sampling procedures proposed for the
investigation are presented below.
3.1 Soil Borings
` . The soil borings will be drilled with 8-inch O.D. hollow- ;ten
continuous-flight augers. The augers will be advanced either to..
(1) five feet below the deepest detectable contamination (as
detected in the field by an organic vapor analyzer), or (2) Anti%
the capillary p lary fringe is encountered.
CONDOR
