E1 Dorado
Street, Stockton, CA.
Dear Mr. Margowski:
;cite visits were conducted in the afternoon on the following days;
May 20, 21 and 22, 1991, and samples were obtained of the effluent
of the charcoal, the effluent and the influent of the Cyclo Purge.
These samples were brought back to the REGE lab and analyzed for
total fuel hydrocarbons, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and
i xylenes (TFH-BTEX) . During these visits vacuum readings were
obtained at the extraction wells, pressure readings were obtained
at the injection wells and samples were obtained from the the
extraction wells. Also flow rates were determined from
measurements obtained at the orifices at the extraction manifold,
please see enclosed Table 1.
yObservations made of the functioning of the Cylco Purge are as
l
y ollowo:
May 20, 1991 - PM ;
1. The Cyclo Purge was in operation with approximately 2
f oz. of fluid collected in the 5 gallon bucket with the
pump DR 606 pulling a vacuum through the condensate
` tank.
2. The Cyclo Purge was operating at a temperature of 540F.
3.. PID readings between the two connected charcoal drums
was 300 ppm vapor, indicating breakthrough.
4. PID readings at the exhaust of the second charcoal drum
y was 200 ppm vapor, indicating breakthrough was occuring.
5. Hydrocarbon odor was emitting at the injection well
heads.
— -- - — --- ---- --- 6. The, U-tube connected to the condensate tank showed to -- - --- — "-- -
high of. a vacuum was being generated, fluid completely
p. filled U-tube, approximately 12" higher than U-tube
drain.
1
