Wm. J. Hunter & Associates 2220 Loma Vista Dr
&gistered Geologists Sacramento, CA 95825
etroleum& Mineral Appraisers (916) 972-7941
FAX (916) 972-1683
September 2, 1992
Harlan Knoll , REHS
San Joaquin County PHS
Environmental Health Division
445 No. San Joaquin Street
Stockton, CA 95202
Ref: Site Cade 1258 (NORMAC) Results of borings on Hammertown
Property; APN 094-0521
Dear Harlen;
I have prepared a brief narrative and exhibits covering the 3
auger holes that were placed on the above property under the
workplan addendum dated 7/1/1992. Your review and comments will
be appreciated.
THE FOLLOWING WORK WAS PERFORMED ON AUGUST 13, 19929 UNDER THE
DIRECTION OF WM. HUNTER, RG.
• With the assistance of Peter Voskes, Operations Manager for
NORMAC, the locations for the three bore holes were measured off ,
using the existing HSH #2 site as a reference point. The final
locations of the borings differed slightly from those proposed in
the workplan. Refer to ,Elate I for their actual locations.
Spectrum Exploration Co. mobile auger rig & support truck arrived
an location at 9:00 AM; the crew consisted of James Young,
driller, and Robert Duvall , helper. There were sufficient clean,
6 1/4" OD augers to complete all three boreholes without the
;necessity to steam clean the equipment. HDH #4 was taken to 41
1/2' , with soil samples taken at 20 ' , 25 ' , 30' , 35' , & 40 ' using
a California modified split--spoon sampler for taking 18 ' cores
utilizing 2" OD, clean brass tubes. Each core was examined and
described by the geologist, promptly sealed with teflon tape and
plastic end caps, labeled and placed on ice. No evidence of
contamination or odors were noted in either the drill cuttings or
the soil samples. The lithology, cored intervals & blow counts
are shown on Plate ZZ. Drill cuttings from the surface to 20
feet were not contained, but all cuttings and excess core
material were placed in steel drums, which were sealed and
labeled for future disposal .
The rig was then relocated over HBH #5, and the same procedure as
. described above was followed; Plate ZZI gives details of the bore
hole.
1
